Rabbi Geoffrey A. Mitelman is the Founding Director of Sinai and Synapses, an organization that bridges the scientific and religious worlds, and is being incubated at Clal – The National Jewish Center for Learning and Leadership.

 His work has been supported by the John Templeton FoundationEmanuel J. Friedman Philanthropies, and the Lucius N. Littauer Foundation, and his writings about the intersection of religion and science have been published in the books Seven Days, Many Voices and A Life of Meaning (both published by the CCAR press) and These Truths We Hold (published by HUC Press) as well as on The Huffington PostNautilusOrbiterThe Wisdom Daily, and other national media.

From 2007 to 2014, he served as Assistant and then Associate Rabbi of Temple Beth El of Northern Westchester, and he appeared on Jeopardy! in March 2016. He lives in Westchester County with his wife Heather Stoltz, a fiber artist, with their daughter and son.

Irina Raicu directs the Internet Ethics program at the Markkula Center for Applied Ethics at Santa Clara University. She is a certified information privacy professional, and her work addresses a wide variety of topics—from online privacy to social media’s impact on society, from the digital divide to the ethics of encryption, and the many ethical issues associated with artificial intelligence.

She has authored and co-authored a variety of resources published by the Markkula Center, including the compendium Ethics in Technology Practice, and, together with other center staff, she has worked with multiple companies in the process of developing their responsible tech/responsible AI policies and processes.

Her writing has appeared in publications including The Atlantic, U.S.A. Today, Forbes, MarketWatch, Slate, the San Francisco Chronicle, and Recode.

As a teenager, Raicu came to the U.S. with her family as a refugee. She holds a J.D. degree from Santa Clara University’s School of Law, as well as a bachelor’s degree in English from U.C. Berkeley and a master’s degree in English and American Literature from San Jose State University.
