Discuss with Dr. Betsy Stone how the “trauma” of Covid has impacted us — its effects on our brains and bodies, on our emotions and spirits. She will discuss the “take-aways,” what we can learn from the past year that will help us successfully navigate the new normal that is still taking shape.
Betsy Stone, Ph. D., is a Yale-educated Clinical Psychologist who teaches and lectures widely on a variety of topics including the physical, emotional, and spiritual impact of various types of traumas; how individuals cope; and how to find ways to move forward. She has been an instructor of Pastoral Care at HUC-JIR in New York and is advisor to many rabbis.

Can former allies talk to each other, find common cause, and act together in this polarized time? What can be our role? Wade Henderson will share insights gained from a lifetime of engagement. Yolanda Savage-Narda will bring us the perspective of Jews of Color who have a unique and essential role in bridging the ideological and cultural divide.
Wade Henderson is the interim president of The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights– the nation’s premier civil and human rights coalition– and The Leadership Conference Education Fund, organizations he previously led for more than 20 years.
Yolanda Savage-Narda is the director of Racial Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (REDI) for the Union for Reform Judaism.

Rabbi Erin Smokler is Dean of Students and Director of Spiritual Development at Yeshivat Maharat where she teaches Hasidut and Pastoral Torah. She holds a BA from Harvard, an MA and PhD from the University of Chicago, and ordination from Yeshivat Maharat. She is the editor of the recently published anthology, Torah in the Time of Plague.
